I’m renovating a room that’s probably going to be an office/study, with oak wainscoting I plan to stain a dark color.
I also plan on sanding and refinishing the oak floor in the room, and I’m wondering if keeping the floor the same golden oak color as the floors in the rest of the house will look odd next to the dark-colored wainscoting.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's a matter of personal opinion really. But I think the floor would offset the dark wainscoating which would be good. If you go with a dark color for the floor, the room could end up too dark.

Thanks for the quick response!
No problem! I spend every day in two offices in front of a computer. So I check in all day long.
And no, there's not two of me and I'm not like stretch Armstrong. Our offices are right beside each other. :)
Last year I put wallpaper on my walls that was made out of brown paper bags. The after effect is a leather look. The color is dark brown. My wainscoat is made from the same wood that's on my ceiling which is Cypress with a clear coat on it. The two together are gorgeous. No conflicting colors at all.

It's a matter of personal preference, but we found that our dark floors showed every speck of dirt and light scratches. We carpeted all the dark rooms until our kids are older. We have honey colored maple floors in our bedroom. You wouldn't know the floors need cleaning until the tumbleweeds start passing by.Jason
