What do Insur. Claim Adjusters look for?
Following a 30 minute pelting with golf ball size hail and 55mph winds, things are a bit of a mess. No broken windows or leaks, yet… ;>)
What do Insurance Adjusters want to see on a 25sq. Elk 14yr old roof, a 15sq. Owens Corning 4month old roof, a 14’x21′ and a 30×52′ 14yr. old R-panel roof?
Full replacement clause in policy, what things do I need to ask for?
In DFW metroplex, any idea how much such roof repairs are being paid by Insurance companies?
Thanks for your positive help,
Bill

bill, very briefly,
insurance company and your contractor will be looking for golfball sized scuff marks on the existing shingles--which they will circle with a piece of chalk and take digital photos of.
show them YOUR photo's !!!!!!!
you will get a check-it's just a question of how big a check.
BTW- i have pictures around here somewhere of nectarine sized hail falling, bouncing off my truck in the driveway etc.
sounded like bowling balls falling on my roof.
My truck already had dents-so I didn't turn that into the insurance
AND- i was already planning to replace my roof last year--so i didn't THAT into the insurance company either.
Very best wishes to you,
stephen
Just make sure the damage is something that you want to claim. If it's superficial, could possibly be covered by the deductible, or minor enough that you would consider doing the repair yourself, it's probably to your benefit to fix it yourself & not claim. I found out the hard way about the claims process. Three claims in one year, or I think five claims in the lifetime of your policy & the policy's canceled. They pay, of course, but just refuse to renew. But, then you have to go find insurance w/ another company & at a higher rate.
