so you'ver got crete kicking you in the butt until it all kicks, eh?
One of the guys who just poured a slab for me last friday came from working a job where they did twenty thousand yards of slabs in nine months, working three shifts around the clock. When he told me that, I didn't know whether to hang jaw or wink, but after watching him, I figured out he was the best finisher on the crew.

Excellence is its own reward!
Did some re-slabbing of drive-thrus at some fast-food joints. Drive thru had to be open by 10:30AM for lunch crowd. Couldn't get a fast-set truck there before 6:00AM. Wish I could have found one who would pour at 3:00AM!

Its 4:55 right now, we just finished the 150 yard pour. It still dark outside, dont have to be at work for another two hours.
take the rest of the day (til start of work) off
a. It's easier to get crews to be fresh and get to work early than a second shift later in the day.
B. Keep in mind the traffic. Maybe they were concerned about the trucks turn around time. With a limityed fleet each truck needs to make more trips within a fixed time limit.
3. The boss has a boat payent due.

Historically, I am not a morning person. And while I worked alone, I tended to get a late start, 9, 9:30. Now that I've hired a couple of employees I am starting around 7 when the weather permits.
This has caused me to notice that the lumberyard and the hardware store that I prefer to buy from both do not open until 8:00 AM.
The lumberyard guy is there at 7:00 and he will take care of whatever I need, but officially they are not open. There is simply not any demand at that hour.
I don't think many slabs are being poured in the middle of the night in Grant County.

Another day, another tool.

On a hill by the harbour
Hi Rich,
Most of my suppliers open a 7am. Only one ( one of my favorites) doesn't open til 8am. Personally I much prefer the early starts-not because I plan to be there that early, but because I can call them that early and set up or check on deliveries.
