Hope this is not a duplicate post- we saw this yesterday. this is on entry level looking up. the plans for the house show this wooden arrangement hanging in the ceiling just as you see it here. Maybe there is something the owner will hang on it or is this some type gothic or nordic architecture????
room is about 30 ft square, 1st floor ceilings are 12 ft, 2nd floor ceiling is higher, there is an 8 ft wide walk around area on the 2nd level

Just decorative. Many old churchs have decorative trusses. These will probably be boxed in or painted.
You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.

Just decorative at this point, nothing structural except the collar ties at the top.
agree with the others.
Have seen interesting structural custom trusses in the arch mags where the bottom chords where cut, but they were replaced by steel rods to take up the tension.
i would be afeared if these were holding anything up but air :)
Those can all be structural as well as asthtetic. The top collar ties are the most efficient. The bottom ones would be more efficient if they were connected in the middle. Think about the triangle created by the lowest horizontal member and the vertical member it is attached to at the hinge point. Also think about how that is attached to the collar tie above it.
