Hey NB, looks like the painting "The Scream". But that's probably not what you are referring to. Is it the header configuration that you are referring to? If so, that is a pretty common method. The structural header is tight to the underside of the plate and everything below is just nailing etc. It looks upside down to have cripples below the header but can be really nice if the owner decides to go with a slightly bigger door or window. Nothing structural to remove. Or maybe you are talking about something else entirely and I missed it...
Hey NB, looks like the
For one thing the header is short. You don't see the that on the left side? The reason there is two trimmers under the header (only one on the right side) is because it's code for that length of span. On the left side the header only sits part way on 1 trimmer. Look again at the header, it is not tight to the underside of the plate. Your looking at ply wood above the header and between the end of the header and the king stud. Also there are no cripples above the header to prevent a sag.
I certainly wouldn't use that pic to convey how i build quality homes as he said in the video!
The pic of the dude is not an alien!
Hey NB, Look again - that
Looks like OSB above the header to me. I guess we'll never know. He should at least look at the video he posted and edit for that problem. Or do a new one.
Reply to comment It's hard to tell. I looked
Maybe your correct . Now that I study it more maybe it does have 2 trimmers
Yeah, I would assume that's a shadow. And I see two trimmers on each side too. But the picture's not quite set up right to be 100% sure.

Did you ever contact Taunton or FHB and mention the crap way this forum operates?
If not, I wish you would make the call. I've been a member here for over 17 yrs and have had no luck. Maybe you can do better.
thanks
Calvin.
I did send them an emai but haven't heard a thing.
Won't load pics.
