Hi everyone, could you please advise what size base board heaters are needed in the following spaces. 20′ x 12′ room and a 30′ x 30′ size room.. The 30 x 30 sized room is an open concept which includes the kitchen. We have a 72″ long window in the middle of the back wall that the base board heater would fit perfect under.
thank you

About 5 watts in Honderus.
A LOT more north of the artic circle.
The only way to know is to do a heat loss calculation. And that depends on the amount of insulation, number and type of windows, orientation, climat, etc.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
PG, would that be Miami, Florida or Duluth, Minnesota? (Fill in your profile, particularly location, and describe the house.)
PAHS works. Bury it.
O.K....... it's done.
Ontario, Canada, the land of the high tax, snow, snow and more snow and the largest black fly you can imagine. But..... we do have great beer.
THe cottage is 1150 ft2, we are just putting the electrical in next week so I need to purchase the base boards , noticed in HD and Lowes that there are many sizes, this will be the secondary heating system until we get the masonry Stove built.
There you go. Ontario of course isn't in my chart, but Detroit has 6293 heating degree-days.
With all that, somebody who knows more about baseboard heat than I do will be able to help you out. We got a certificate of occupancy with a total of 7 lineal feet of electric baseboard here (20k cu ft), heating climate 2/3 yours. Totally different house, obviously.
Consider this a "bump".
You're gonna love that masonry stove. Building your own? PAHS works. Bury it.
Thanks VaTom, no we have a guy that will build us one for $2500.00, considering the competition up here is $4,000.00 for the same size unit. We didn't think is was such a bad price. We can't bring up any of the units in the US due to the codes.
the unit will be 5' x 2' deep and 2 flues. I don't think iit will go in this year, we just ran electrical underground 600' so that hurt the pocket book. But we have all the info on it.
living in eastern ontario i have r 20 walls and placed the heaters near windows and doors ( sources of cold)
thermostats on inside wall out of direct sunlight , 5 watts per sq ft of area
better to have more heaters than one large one so you spread the heat around
the above i have learned from observing other customers problems over 30 plus years
Thanks for your info. We just purchased 2 x 500watts for the bedrooms and put both on the same Thermostat and purchsed 1000w for the bathroom and 1500w for the great room.
