What to put behind board & batten siding
I’m building a tenant house on our farm. 2X6 walls, R-21 fiberglass batts, 1/2″osb, 1″Dow rigid foam insulation, Typar house wrap. The siding will be 1X12 Green pine Board & Batten. I’m having a hard time deciding if I should put the siding directly over the Typar or not? I looked in to House slicker vent material to pricy! $70/sq. What about water & ice shield ? would that be a problem over the Typar? Maybe some type of 1/4″ horizontal lath strips? any Ideas? thank you!

rip the strips for a budget job. If you put greeen pine directly over the other m,aterials you have, ti will be rotting before you can walk back to the barn.
get it stickered and drying as much as possuibel before instqalling it and do not nail the edges. Search this forum for the subject. I have posted pictures and drawings before

I used # 30 roofing felt with a 6" overlap onder my board and batten.
