I only ask this because I am inserting these into the “material price escalation” clause of a fixed price contract.
#2 SPF framing lumber $665.10 / MBF
7/16 OSB 48 x 96 $16.00 / ea
5/8 OSB 48 x 96 square edge $21.99 / ea

Just bought a sheet of 7/16 osb yesterday ... $14.99
Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell'em "Certainly, I can!" Then get busy and find out how to do it. T. Roosevelt
just ordered 3/4 Advantech 31.95
Your spf sounds high too, but I admit I haven bought or priced it lately.
BTW, why ask us? You have to go with what it is where you are buying it.

You're right. I have to go with my local numbers, and I did. I'm just fishin around to see what is out there in the world outside my little fence.
whats the deal with osb, i know it's been high for ayear. but then hd had it for a couple weeks at 12.95/9.95 and boom back up to 16.00. did we get in another war and need it to rebuild[ what crock of bull]. last advantech i bought was a little below 30. but the guy i bought it from had just sold like 500 sheets back to the dist. and was laughuing at how much money he made just wharehousing it. i don't know where you are but here in kans. your pretty much right on. larry

Hurricanes?
Can you lump all of the framing material (2x4, 2x8, 2x8, 2x10) into one line? Bigger sizes cost more here. We use DF#2 and it's more than 700 per thousand in 2x4, partly due to freight to a somewhat difficult location.
And obviously, what your clause states really has nothing to do with what we pay elsewhere. But you knew that...
You're right, of course. The price per MBF is different by piece size. But I have them all plugged into a spreadsheet and bring down the bottom line unit, which I'll compare after frame-up is all complete, and readily see the difference.
I just thought it would be easier for the owner to see one line in the contract escalation clause for sawn lumber, rather than include a longer list of maybe 25 lines.
"material price escalation"
curious
does your contract allow for lowering the price?

Sure does. And nothing would make me happier, than to be able to pass along a savings to my client.
Just for kicks, a different take from a scrounger, obviously this would not work for a business that uses hundreds of sheets a day, but since it is posted in general discussion vs. business here goes.
2 SPF framing lumber
$approx 24 minutes per 100 BF tearing down and hauling pallets with #2 2X8 and 2x6s, that works out to $162/ hr and beats jogging. Can't get 2X longer than 11 ft though.
7/16 OSB 48 x 96
occasional osb as dunnage, 5 mn to throw inthe truck - generally, sheet goods used are 3 meter by ten meter (5ft by 10 ft) 1.8 cm (3/4 nominal) baltic birch or luan. Can strip 6 sheet off pallet in 45 min plus another 15min transport, works out to and hour for 6 sheets or $90/hr at $15 sheet (the stuff retails for >$150 sheet, but without the holes. Could probably get 10 sheets a day if needed.
5/8 OSB 48 x 96 square edge see above
