I’m not listing this in the classified ads , yet. One of the mechanics at work is interested, and I’m trying to come up with a fair price.
’89 GMC P30 chassis. Small block GM. Automatic. 18′ long cargo/work area. Four wheel disc brakes. New rear discs, pads, and master cyl in last two years. Tires ok. Miles over 300k. Most likely on 2nd or third engine. Runs great. Located in Howell MI, halfway between U of M and MSU.

What does a van like that get for milage?
City/Hwy/mixed?
Looks pretty darn clean for a 89 MI white van... Been painted recently? Is there any crap hiding under what looks like decent paint?

No recent paint. Was an Aramark uniform truck in WI. Ive owned three years, and we shut our biz down last fall so we don't need any more.

Insert initially amusing but ultimately annoying catch phrase here.
Was offered similar truck 3 years ago, had been used for appliance delivery. No rust in Seattle, dented a little more than yours.
Asking price was $500, thought that was too high, think the guy may have given it away in the end.
Did buy a similar mileage truck once, needed to put $1000 worth of bearings, brakes, and rebuild parts plus many hours into it to be a like new runner.
If you are not hurting for cash, give it to the guy.
I have no idea. I hope tha helps.
I would look on ebay to get a starting idea, but everyone is unique so adjust +- a little.
that truck looks pretty clean. I'm gonna guess you should get 6 grand for it
Any signs of rain leaks?
Is this the AL body or steel? Rust?
the rear door looks ready to fall off the tracks. is it workable?
If all is great, then the five grand is a possible with engine check and AL body.
But it could be closer to five hundred too.
Without knowing more 2-3 grand is a ballpark guess.

Body is AL. Rear door needs two rollers .

alum body... would scrap for about 400.00 any small block chevy 350 is worth $4-$500... prob a turbo400 trans.. again... $400..
around here if it ran well it'd be a $2k van... knowing it'd scrap for $1200 to $1500 i wouldn't feel bad sell'n it for 2k
just curious... was there not a market for your type business?

Wow - I've sold more than a few 350s WITH a turbo 350 for $150 with lots of miles.
Guess I got took?? <G>
and i've bought a ton of 350 cores for $50 even 400sb cores for $50 but good split rear main seal cores are getting very hard to find... 400's very hard... most of the crate motors are 60over with 30/30 cranks... just very hard to find ones that will machine out at 10 over and cranks that will go 10/10..
the trans shop i deal with pays 300cash for turbo400s in a chevy pattern if it's buildable... an alum case powerglide if it's buildable will bring 200-300...
i have been sitting for 20yrs on a 1968/69 DZ302 in my warehouse that going by ebay prices should bring 5-10k.. considering the cars they go in are bringing upward of 150k... hate to think of the stuff i trashed/cut up/// ect that would bring$$ today

no more than $800
It'd be worth a couple grand to me if I needed another rolling workshop

you'd get a lot more without that Michigan license plate

I haven't been to an equipment auction in about a year, but last time I noticed the prices on the used Step-Vans of that vintage and mileage, they were going for around or a little over $2K. Would probably go for 3 bills if the mileage wasn't so high.
