WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
So you use vulkem for both siding/trim and windows/doors?

Ok, IMERC likes vulkem...
Anybody else?
Do you use the same stuff for siding and trim as for windows/doors?
I keep in my trailer at least a case each of clear Geocel and White Geocel and a couple tubes of silicone.IMERC has not misplaced his loyalty either. It is simply not an easy one for me to get.Bis stretch is a good one too. I think form the same company as Vulcrum
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
man Vulkem rules.... look at my posts i have been swearing to it's god like performance for as long as i've been here... i have used nothing but it to set alum storefronts in brick building for 15yrs without one mechanical fastner...
check out vulkem 45 wow never knew god graced us with this stuff... lucked up on a pallet load at habitat all in the qt size and all in black... i went to use one tube and thought it was all bad.... it ran out of the tube... it flowed like warm honey on a hot female body.... i looked it up... yep thats what it was supposed to do.... killer on flat roofs on rubber roofs where i had never found anything that would work... it flows out and fills gaps & cracks and skins over in about 10 min... leaks i chased for years are now fixed... yes god graced us with Vulkem and i thank him
p
early eighty something...
tried to take down some granite panels (5'x10'x4") that were Vulcumed in....
1st intro to the stuff....
after that butt busting job... never looked back...
early 90's....
installed Vulcum, GE, Sitka, big stretch, Dow Corning and something else at a huge med clinic....
Vulcum and Dow are still on the job....
nobody else is...

So you like it then?
LOL,
I like it too. I've been using it pretty much exclusively but wondered what else folks use.
wish it would stick to oil...

I'm not a contractor ... but I'm partial to these (and I agree on DAP).

Big Stretch. Bonds great to fiber cement, wood, latex and oil based finishes. You can put it on fat and tool it, builds great if you do multiple passes, comes in several colors...I really like it.It is stiff, though. Really can be a bear to squeeze by hand.
Certainteed has a caulking to be used with their siding. Should be compatible with all cementitious siding. It is very good...much better than anything i've tried. Stays flexible and makes a caulking imperfectionist like me look good.
OSI 100 series...
not for wet locvation or below grade....

Since CertainTeed seems to have given Hardie some competition out here on the West Coast (Canada) due to issues with support over damage to product in wet areas...probably due more to lack of attention in transport and storage than anything else, we've been using this CertainTeed caulking at penetrations and seems to work well. Inspectors are ok with it and they've are very fussy about these sorts of things since rainscreen (cavity between building paper and cladding) has become mandatory (2007) in high humidity parts of BC.
