Every now and then you see something that makes you take a second glance. This was the house I worked on in Biloxi in Feb. (Just getting around to sorting through the pictures.)
Close as I can tell it’s a condensate line from the AC in the attic. The vertical pipe is the vent line coming off the stool connection. I think the tin cover to the left is covering electrical wiring of some sort.
The other picture (large!) is sunset on the Gulf.

If HVAC is in the attic it is not uncommon to run the freon lines externally behind a cover and a dummy downspount.
Specially if the AC is retrofit.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Yeah, now that you mention it, that's probably the cover over the freon lines -- I had it figured out while I was there but had forgotton.I just wonder what a plumbing inspector in "the real world" would say about that condensate line, though.

And this whole house was a retrofit. Added to three times. Evidence that the main structure may have been moved in sections from elsewhere.

No direct connections aloud.
Run through a trapped indirect waste would be my guess what an inspector would say.
I say just run it out on the ground ( unless there isa chance of freezing)---- all of the roof top units on my jobs run into the roof drainsI fear no man & only one GOD. Me
I have been on the I10 via duct many of times, in fact I am working about six miles west of that bridge. You was on casino alleyi do live in Alabama, so my advice might be worthless
Yeah, I was standing right outside the casino. Very bizarre place.

So you all think it's a condensate line?
We just run them out on the ground too, but I can tell you from experience in high humidity climates where the AC runs most of the time, just running them out on the ground can literally create a "swamp".
When you say >> Run through a trapped indirect waste would be my guess what an inspector would say. << Would that be a trap with a gap :-) like on a washing machine?

Yes a trap with a gap.
As far as an AC condensate is speculation & running out onto the ground I understand will not work in ALL areas.I fear no man & only one GOD. Me
we are not allowed to dump hvac on ground due to skeeter breeding.i do live in Alabama, so my advice might be worthless
Actually, since this was in Mississippi, the advice may miraculously be valid.

We are not allowed to run WH pan or condensate drains to the sewer, even if there is a trap. I have never been able to figure that one out.
