After cleaning out my garage/workshop, I found the bottle of oil that came with my Porter Cable 16 guage finish nailer. No where in the instruction booklet does it tell you where the oil is supposed to be applied or how.
The sales rep at Home Depot said I put a couple of drops in the end of the hose that connects to the nailer and then just run the tool. That doesn’t make sense to me. That would possibly get oil inside my oil free brad nailer which may or may not be a good thing.
So, where does the oil go? Do I put it into the hose connector directly on the gun?

It's oil free so it doesn't get oil...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming....
WOW!!! What a Ride!
It is very interesting that your "oil-free" nailer came with oil. Could you possibly have misunerstood the specs when you bought your nailer? If it is oil free then I can't figure out why they would give you oil with the gun, but I've seen stranger things.
I oil my guns (those that take oil) with a few drops at the air inlet. Some use the auto-oilers, but I don't like them because I might forget to re-fill the resevoir, and since I have a mixture of oil and oil-free tools I don't want the oil in my hoses.
What model PC nailer do you have?

Any chance you have an oil free compressor and not an oil free gun?
My Bostitch brad nailer gets a drop or two of oil before each use. If your gun's
instructions specify that it's oil free, then, follow their recommendations.

Ooops!!! My bad.
I have a 16 guage Porter Cable finish nailer that is not oil free and came with the oil.
I have an 18 guage Bostitch brad nailer that is oil free.
Sorry for the confusion.
Basically I bought the Porter Cable pancake compressor and nail gun combo. The compressor is oil free...the gun is not.
Thang,
Your post made sense to me....
The oil goes into the fitting on the gun before you hook up the hose.
I put three drops in my guns (roofing and framing) everyday that I use them.
