Anyone know a source for Spanish cedar? I was thinking of making a humidor, but don’t know of anywhere in my area that has Spanish cedar.

A humidor is where you keep your humor, right?
But not your dry humor, no?

I too.
Si, Senor.
Ebay?
Advantage Lumber carries it;, Rockler stocks it as well.
Here's an outfit selling it for $3.75/BF: http://www.woodvendors.com

Wow, they certainly do! Wheeew, 1k board ft is a bit more than I was wanting. LOL, that'd be one HECK of a humidor! Looks like 100bf is the starting point.
I try to avoid Rockler whenever I can. Some nice stuff there, but I'm not fond of some of their prices.
I haven't found it at any of my local lumber yards/building supply. I've tried Craigs List and the local shoppers off and on, but haven't found any local. s/h can eat you up, but eBay is always a possibility for small pieces.
Everyone thanks for the suggestions.

How much do you need? I have quite a bit (smaller pieces, generally)
I haven't decided on size yet. Part of me says to just bite the bullet and make a full sized cabinet humidor (like 6' tall), but the humidification systems can be a bit pricey. I've been keeping an eye on local auctions waiting for a booze store to go out of business thinking that maybe they'd have a cabinet humidor at auction, but haven't noticed any yet.
I currently have 3 small (around 5x9x10"), one medium (about the size of a microwave), and a tote (about the size of a footlocker). My cigars can be individuals, 5-packs, 10-packs, boxes, etc.
LOL, if I stopped buying stogies today, I would probably have enough to smoke for 2-3 years :)

here you go ............
Looking behind my humid door, I see that I can get Spanish cedar in Spain, right down the aisle from the corks before you get to Beaujolais.
I don't know humidors from empty spinach cans, but I think I have heard that much "Spanish cedar" is toxic to some degree. I think I would want to investigate that angle before making a box to store cigars that I smoke in

Piffin,Spanish cedar is what humidors are mostly made of. Cigar will be the more toxic material.KK

I get it from our local woodworker (central NJ) who is also a distributor.

Not exactly sure of your location, but I think
Delaware County Supply in Boothwyn, PA stocks small amounts

Worth a call maybe, if you haven't already found some closer.

I listen to XM comedy chanel sometimes, heard a piece today by Bill Cosby back when he was doing his records like "Why is there air?" etc. This one was called "Spanish Fly". Good classic humor.
