I use black chalk for the grid lines, & an orange/red mixture for the walls.
In the lower pic you see all those black Hilti¯ sleeves.
We are building twin 33 story condo's in Bellevue WEBCAM I'm in charge of the deck crew which does layout & sleeving for all the plumbing penitrations.

Put salt in your chalk.
That's a good idea.
I'd shovel out an area, we would snap the wall lines & by the time we placed the tape measure back on the line to call out the dimension for the sleeve we were allready covered in snow again.
Pretty rare event in western Wa.
But I'll take cold dry snow over rain any day.
Maybe I need to suggest that to irwin. Hot chalk.
