I have my test date coming up in a couple of weeks for the B general license and I’m wondering which school others have found helpful or not. I’ve been flooded with junk mail from tons of centers, although its hard to see through their sales pitches. Any recomendations? Thanks in advance.

I didn't have the flexibility in my schedule to sit through an all day class so I got a package of study guides and tapes. I never listened to the tapes, just did the sample exams in the study guides.
The actual exam was the same questions as the study guide.
Overall the B exam is pretty easy. The contractors business and law questions were the only difficult part.

Kye,
I did what Karl did, through an outfit called Contractor's License of California, or CLOC for short. The home study guide cost me around $300 I think. It helped me a lot.
The law portion is harder for real tradesmen than the trade portion. One exception is that they ask a ton of questions about trench shoring. Without the study guide, I would not have had a clue. Interior remodel is my specialty, so trenches are thankfully infrequent.

I used Contractors License School, and they were fine.
I highly recomend doing the classes, the test is pretty broad as potentially your license can cover a lot of work you're probably not doing, and they basically give you the answers to the test.
Hey thanks for the info everyone. I did the test prep school in AZ when I got my license there and it made all the difference. They had so many silly questions which didn't appy to the type of work I do or any residential contractor for that matter and I was glad I did the course rather than just studying the state recomended books.I'm leaning towards the Peerless course. Anyone done that one? Anyway thanks for responding so quickly. I appreciate your input.
Cheers,
Kye
