the case
"the case" LOL
I had the exact same thought about those POS cases tools come with.
My vote goes to the jigsaw. Considering that my combo kit came with a recip saw.
My combo has the recip, no jigsaw so cant say how that would work.
But I use the flashlight much more than the recip.
Doug
My combo has all that stuff but I rarely use the jig saw. I wouldn't miss it a whole lot. Every once in a while it comes in very handy though. Matt
Dan,
I voted for the jigsaw, but I don't really consider it extra. I picked my kit (Bosch 18 volt) largely because it has their jigsaw. All the tools are good, but I have never used the flashlight. I use the jigsaw and the recip both a lot more than the circular saw.

pretty much ever flash light I've ever seen is "cordless" ...
hard to get from the tent to the bathrooms with a cord
and hard to find a plug in the woods anyways ....

not sure U under stand the poll.
since u ask "extra" tool, implies that a combo kit should have a, b, c etc and the munufacturer adds this "extra" tool.
so if I pick flashlight it implies the recip and jig saw are already there.
correct interpretation.

The only kits that I have bought (that I curently own) have not had any of these three items. That being said I have bought the flashlights to go with a 12v and 14.4v kit. I uses them quite a bit. I put together a kit of 24v stuff and the recip was one item I bought to go with the circ saw and hammer drill. It has been great, especially since I have the battery eliminator as a backup.
I did buy a kit once that had circ saw, recip, hammer drill, flashlight, and leaf blower. This particular light blue set had very awkward safety buttons on the two saws and the flashlight had very limited angle adjustment and was not very useful. I sold it and an impact to a customer who was impressed with them. The surprise was the leaf blower, I expected it to be a big nothing. It was great for cleanup. especially when putting down tile of underlayment.
Don't you wish they would just take the poll. It does say poll and not Discussion.
We are all in this together.

Yeah I don't get the flashlight thing either. I always assumed they were "free" because nobody would ever pay for 'em. Guess I was wrong.
Personally, I'd rather they either kicked in another battery, or offer a better designed case. I have too many tools that require accessories but only have room in the case for a charger, spare battery, and tool. I mean if you've got a cordless recip... it'd be nice to have room in there for more than one blade. It'd also be nice to keep an average size drill index in the same box as..... get this.... my drill. How bout some router bits with my routers? Same goes for corded tool cases for that matter.
Thanks for listening, but I'm done now. That's all the whining I'm allowed for one day.
Diesel- I know you are a pretty organized guy and between that nice truck and trailer, you've probably got it covered. But I got tired of losing the drill bits all the time too. Went out and got some big pieces (1x3) of stick on velcro. One part went on the outside of the drill case, the other went on the bit case and voila - I've got my started set with me at all times. If I need to get the case off, just take it off then put it back so it doesn't get lost.
Don
Nice idea Don.... I'll file that one for later.
Everybody's got their own "cheesy" storage ideas, the best one I've found for small drill bits is those little M&M Mini containers. They're about 4" long and have a good snap lid. There's a larger size, too. The price is right, and you get to eat the M&M's.

I vote for flashlight, as an add on to a drill. The only other accesory a cordless kit needs is an extension cord, so you can run a real tool.
The qualifier 'extra' would indicate something you didn't demand or expect when you bought the kit itself. So the only thing on the list that fits that description is the flashlight. Since who in their right mind would pay $350 for a flashlight...unless it came with a free Recip and Jigsaw, of course....
But I don't have one of these kits. Yep, I'm still using extension cords and kerosene lanterns....
SO, my vote would be: A Metal Tool Case!!! (still waiting to see a kit that includes one, tho....)

But it is not this day.
Heck Dan, it's hard to find combos that don't include the flashlight anymore. As well, the recip is a basic standard.
Therefore, I voted jigsaw.
PS Bosch offers a free cordless planer, charger, or extra battery until the end of Aug with purchace of either the 5-or 6-piece kits. (I want one so bad!)
Let me know if you want to know what sells best in my Cali tool store.

The Bosch 6 pc kit can be had at Home Depot stores for $399 right now, a plus you can get the extra battery via the rebate.Heck of a deal, considering that they were $599 - and that was a pretty good deal as well.Absolute best combo deal out the these days. If you already have bosch stuff HD is also clearing out the radio/14.4 brute drill kit for $199 - it includes the cd/radio, 14.4 hammer drill, flashlight, two batteries and bag for about $20 more than I paid just for the radio...JT
I realy wish you hadn't posted that. It's beenm on my mind ever since I saw it last night. You got me thinking hard about it.
