I own 2. Building Kitchen cabs by Paul Levine and his video and Building Traditional Kitchen cabs by jim Tolpin. Levine is toward the euro style and Tolpins is for F/F style. I suggest getting both. I did and I learned from both.

Thanks Ron! I am not looking for something fancy. Just a basic book to get me going and give me some ideas.
Ive got Toplins book on cabinets and like it. I prefer F/F over the euro FWIW. Call me a bit more traditional i guess.
They'll do it for ya. You might want to check out Paul Levines video it goes right along with the book. He demonstrates his joinery and other things . Darkworksite4: When the job is to small for everyone else, Its just about right for me"

I used Paul Levine's book to guide me along and think he did a pretty good job.

I've read the Levine book, and the Tolpin book; I don't think much of either. The Levine one especially is pretty dated. But I'm looking at them from a different perspective, too, so bear that in mind.
There is a guy called Danny Proulx that has a couple of books out, one on cabinets, one on running a cabinet business (haven't seen that one yet, but I have the other..."Buiding Kitchen Cabinets" maybe?...I'd have to go look). I don't really like it either, but it's better than the other two.
"The Kitchen Consultant" by Herrick Kimball is quite good; not much on building cabinets, but good stuff on putting a kitchen together and dealing with the associated stuff.cabinetmaker/college instructor. Cape Breton, N.S
Adrian; Appreciate the help! Noticed you live on the island, do you do any atlantic salmon fishing?
No; I do a fair amount of Atlantic slamon eating though. Are you a Caper?cabinetmaker/college instructor. Cape Breton, N.S
Adrian; No Caper here, I am a Maine'r. Not to far away. Actually I live quite close to the Quebec border.
I also like to eat salmon. I like to go to Canada for 6-7 days a year and fish for salmon. I have never made it your way, though some friends fish the Margaree and other smaller rivers in your neck of the woods. I have met some fine people across the border during the last 30 years of fishing. Cheers!
I would also sugest books by Steve Thomas. He has one on kitchens and another on baths. These are not DIY books and won't help you build the cabinets but they're excellent idea books. He covers the pros and cons of various materials as well as advantages and disadvantages of various kitchen arrangements.
