I need a narrow crown stapler.
Want one that will do 1 1/2″ staples–seems more useful.
Bostich?
Hitachi? New one looks tinny…
Porter Cable?
Rigid has one that looks good?
Max has one that’s 2x the cost of any others???

By considering things like energy-efficient mechanicals, window orientation, and renewable energy sources, homes can be evaluated to meet the energy codes. Here's what the IRC has to say.

"Porter Cable been very good to me."View Image
I bought one of the new Bostitch when they came out. Sx150k or something. A lot of plastic parts.
It works okay but I have had problems with it misfiring longer staples. Actually it is the second one I have, the first I returned. The trigger valve leaked.

When I shoot off underlayment I rent an Hitachi from my (excellent) local tool rental store.
It is not the same gun I see for sale at the local hardware stores though. This baby is really well built, and shoots thousands of staples w/o a single jamb/misfire.

if you can find it....

No to Bostich, only uses Bostich staples. Annoying
I have the Milwaukee, never had it misfire yet and I think I paid around 90.00 dollars for it.Love it very lightweight.
I have the Ridgid and am happy with it. But then, I don't use it a whole lot. Probably 2 boxes of staples in it's lifetime, not counting the one that came with it.
My humble opinion, unless you're really working the heck out of it, any of the major brands will do the job. However, you said 1 1/2" staples, but I think the ridgid only goes to 1-1/4". I could be wrong, but I think that's the case.

Rigid 150FSA goes up to 1.5" staples, I like it too.
Thanks, now I don't have to remember to check mine at work tomorrow. =)
What I especially like about it (and the angle finisher) is the belt hook, comes in real handy.See my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

Uses the PC staples, which the Bostich does not.
The belt hook scares me, I really don't want a stapler hanging that close to something that really shouldn't be stapled.
Heck, tuck the nailer between me legs when I need both hands free. Long as I know which way it's pointing. That's actually easier than fumbling with the hook. But climbing up a ladder or walking with hands full, that hook comes in handy then.
tbh, I've always felt that nailers and staplers should have a safety switch. See my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

Business idea for someone...
Add an air cutoff between the hose and the gun. Something small and easy to use. Just a little twist or a flip and the gun has no air.
I was thinking a trigger lock, but cut off the air is better yet. Certainly simpler to do.See my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

Could probably just use a 1/4 turn shut off valve.
I an inline regulater with the ends to just attach quickly for my critter type sprayer, and a small touch up gun, it saves trips to the comp or water separater for minor psi adjustments.
Just a turn of the knob and pressure is off, BUT a gun still has ONE shot of air in the passages..

My Makita 18 ga. has a trigger lock. A little lever to flip a 1/4 turn near the trigger.
Very safe and convenient. I've always wondered why more nailers don't have one...buic
the SKS does 5/8 thru 1-1/2"....

Can't find no 'SKS' 1/4" crown unit.
I find lots of SNS or SKS construction staplers like I already have--7/16" crown.
Is this a discontinued type o' model?
dunno...
seems to be a model change....

I am surprised about the Bostitch. Everything I own by bostitch is top notch. I have the 1" stapler from them, and I like it.
What are folks using 1" staplers for these days?
I use it for some exterior flashings, but galvinization is an issue sometimes. Mostly for drywall cornerbead. A 1 1/2'' might be better, but I've been using the 1" for awhile and haven't had any problems yet. Some people use them for cabinet backs, but I haven't done any cabinetry (yet). Great for 1/4" Luan underlayment or soffits.
I love the Hitachi. I have had both of mine for about 5 years and they are still working like champs.
I got one of these when Amazon had them for $40. It was absolutely new. I love it. No longer avail, but you probably can find on ebay.
