I had two 24 foot 4×12 white pine beams left over from my house and I was thinking of using them as carrier beams for a 4 ft wide foot bridge across a small ravine/creek on my property.
I can get them off the ground ok, but I would still like to use something to keep them from rotting …….what’s the best way??

.........cat piss??? LOL!!
(sorry)
I think you'd be better of trying to sell them or make someting useful out of them.
I'm not sure they're gonna last more than 10-15 years no matter what you put on them.
Maybe a copper cap?

With A Hold That Causes Some Sensation.
Saturate with green cuprinol and amke sure it drys before going near the stream with them.
Then run a 6" vycor along the top edge before nailing planking across
Don't forget crowns up, but to add to that idea, you might use a plane to work the top edges to a slight bevel before doing all the above
