I think, or thought, that Wickes provided this service, but I'm not sure who might else might do it down there. Perhaps Blue would know?
Up here, during the winter, a lot of traditional on-site work gets done in workshops and pole barns, including panelizing wall components.
As far as cost, well, it all depends. Are you building your own home, or a GC, a framing sub? For me, I've found that the three panelized projects I've done have been cheaper. Not in material, but in on-site labor and time; the quicker the job gets done (correctly, that is), the cheaper it usually is and the quicker I can go on to the next job. If you're charging on a bid, that's more money. But there's a whole lot of variables you're looking at right there; and it's real hard to tell you it is or isn't based on the information.
*thanks jasonmy plan is pretty simple, a traditional Cape cod. its hard to believe that a person with a degree in architecture could design a SIMPLE house, but yes its possible. i am the designer, but would most likely have somebody else be the GC.i know that if i used panelized construction it would go up faster, but somebody has to build thoes panels, and that costs money too.i just dident know if overall it was cheaper or not.we have a Wicks here in Port Huron so ill go out and see what they say.jon
*There's an industry listing at:http://www.trussnet.com/YellowPages/index.cfmUnder "yellow pages", click on "Search listings". It will allow you to search by zip code for manufacturers near you. This subject has been covered at length in these forums. Try searching for "wall panels" or "panelization" and see what turns up.
*It always cost more to use panels...What you save is time. near the stream,aj
