whole house humidifer recommendation
Good morning everyone,
Our new house in west-central Wisconsin is dry. We tried a cool mist humidifer and it didn’t work very well. We now are using a warm mist one. However, I would like to research installing a whole house humidifier. That way it takes care of itself, for the most part until I have to clean it. What types of whole house humidifiers have you people used with success. The house is 1344 sq ft with walk-out poured concrete basement, and using geothermal heat pumps for both in-floor heat and forced air. I’m thinking of something that connects to the ductwork and hooked up to the water supply. Any ideas?
Thanx for the help

Thanx for the info.
Install an April-Aire unit and plumb it for hot water. (Most other brands won't take hot water.) Rig the unit so that it turns on the fan when the humidistat calls (takes an extra relay). You'll have humidification in the "shoulder" seasons when the heat isn't on long enough.
i tried the Aprilaire unit set up to run with a call for humidity, but not for heat found it too drafty in the house during the "heatless" cycles, felt cold now have it set up to run only when heat is called for by the thermostat which cured the cold 'n drafty situation it doesn't quite get the humidity to where it should be, so we kept the 2 small humidifiers running and the house is comfortable
u will use less fuel setting the thermostat back a couple degrees w proper humidity in the house, less sore throats and colds too i'm in King Gambrinus, Wisconsin and maintain humidity properly in my dental office, too far more comfortable, the staff loves it remember to clean units regular to avoid growing "stuff" in the water
