The dishwasher opening is located too close to the adjacent corner cabinets. If installed square the door would hit the adjacent cabinet hardware. There wasn’t enough room for the usual 2 1/2″ filler strip AND meet the other design obligations.
In my dreams, I’d like to hear about a 22″ wide DW or a metric model that is similarly narrower than the 24″ standard. Even a 24″ wide model that has been “trimmed out” to be 24″ that I could trim.
I’m trying to avoid selecting different hardware or designing hardware-less pulls just for that area. I’d rather find the “dream” diswasher and install it cleanly
Backstory – I’m the homeowner. Installing contractor got too far along with all other work (new window centered over new sink cabinet and upper cabinets installed. If I stuck him with ripping and redoing the whole thing I just know it would take more out of me than I want to do.

I think they make an 18" unit...perhaps that and 4" of filler and you got yourself a solution!

OK, we now know who the HO and the installer are.
But the fun part is throwing rotten tomatoes at the designer! No DW should ever be planned to be fitted to any inside corner anyways.
no that I have that out of the way -
The Asko DW is a metric sized model. I know it will go quite a bit shorter, but not sure how much narrower. I am thinking the Bosch might also have an option that could work for you.
I'll take a look

I would have to respectfully disagree. I planned ours specifically that way so that drippage as you take things from the sink or rake stuff first into the compost bowl (in the center) drips onto the open dishwasher door, not the floor. Also, the plastic stuff that didn't dry can go from the top DW rack to the drying rack in the right sink bowlwithout dripping on the floor. It is a wide sink, FWIW.
Wouldn't have it any other way.

Actually part of the remodel was keeping appliances in their original locations - I liked it being there as it was adjacent to the sink and unloaded easily into the island.Pete McIntyre, Sterling VA

18" but not sure if you can get it in the US.
The Asko and the Bosch were both 23-5/8"

You mean your DW [Designated Wife] is more than 22" wide?
~Peter
Thanks folks - I knew about the 18" but that was too much smaller. I think the 23 5/8" models are the standard fit for the 24" opening.
Still dreaming...
