I posted some photos of a ruin in my location back in August, partially seriously . Just an FYI about my research for anyone who was interested in that post. The structure has quite a past but a pretty grim future.

I visitied the site and spoke to an architect who was involved in one of the many plans over the years to save the structure. This was a nationally premier home in the mid-1800’s and the source of the phrase. “keeping up with the Jonses”. Edith Whaton spent time there are wrote about it. It’s even in the library of congress. Unfortunately the building is privately owned by a resident of NYC who seems not to care about the value of a hitorical building like this. The building was basically doomed under private ownership when the surrounding land was subdivided into building lots and contemporary houses erected. It now is surrounded by just over 2 acres (although town zoning requires 5 acre building lots in that area – hmmm – sounds like someones greedy palms were greased). It’s for sale for $275,000. The owner was recently offered $200,000 cash by a party interested in renovating the building but the owner refused. Jerk! Anyway, it sadly seems doomed to totally collapse. I schemed for awhile trying to figure out how to save it but I’m not the 1st to try and it’s defenitely out of my league. I’m only about $1,000,000 short of what it needs.
Anyonw know someone with spare couple million dollars?

can you give us a link to the original post, i would really be interested.
Gerald, I've seen 'similar' properties around here decline and fall - it is sad - your project needs a white knight - - I hope you can get involved, but not ruined- this type of project is good for breaking up marriages and busting bank accounts - - buy a powerball ticket and put it in Gods hands -
