WHW has made it to N.C.

briankeith | Posted in General Discussion on December 3, 2003 09:08am

Good News!

I finally got word from Wet Head Warrior.
He and his family are safe in N.C.

Just got to NC on Thanksgiving Day.
Had a wreck in Memphis!
But we are all OK.

I’ll tell the whole story to all.

Richard

    WHW

we'll be happy to have you home... (be prepared for a tongue-lashing! Well maybe not, you've probably been through enough!)

Don't forget to check Quittin'Time, too.

      ". . . check Quittin'Time, too ! "

Shoot, he's still reading the thread here !

Glad you made it, Richard, and almost safely, too !

        Wet Head:

Welcome to my (adopted) home state. Man! It's really nice here.

Now you'll be able to laugh like he L L every time another one moves back from the land of enchantment.

Vast projects should not be founded on half vast ideas.

really happy to hear that you made it!!!

there have been loads of people worried about you here.

          i'mlooking forward to the story.

maybe they could serialise it in 'great moments in building'

its funny to think about how worried i was considering we've never met or spoken.

Well, now, that is good to hear, except about the accident. Welcome Home, Wethead and all the Warrior Droplets!

    Huzzah! (repeat 3x)

No lashings here, you people!  Do you realize how long it will take to readr through 350 posts here, and the untold numbers of emails?  Sheesh, traveling like Okies, and you want him to spend aweek catching up on a week's worth of mail . . .

    Me, I'm happy he's safe.

No time for computer but had to check for any news, been so long...was wondering if the Bermuda triangle had expanded and swallowed them! Sounds like it tried to in Memphis.

Good news that you made it to NC.

Don't worry with telling alll the gory details until settled in good.

I think WHW is probably still wiping the sweat from his brow. I also think when he sees all the posts here and at QT it may even bring a smile to his face knowing about all the people that are thinking about him and care so much.....ya know?

Pretty cool, huh? Never having met most of us and we care so much? We're a weird bunch aren't we?

I couldn't post directly to Wet Head...

Looking in members listings or using the others to post to him Prospero says he doesn't exist.

      What gives???

That would truely be a shame.

        What gives???"

It doeslook like Prospero has blocked WHW. I just ran a search on his posts and anything after the middle of November has been deleted (this discussion does not exist). Isn't that about the time he started having trouble?

Its a fine thing when a guy can't even turn to his friends and let them know he is having trouble, isn't it?

I guess thats what happens when someone thinks that a "rule" somewhere is a rule-is a rule-is a rule. Or should that be doesn't think???

Still I'm glad to hear he and his family are all right. This above all, to thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night the day, Thou cans't not then be false to any man      Hamlet

I just went to the classifieds and replied to one of wet's posts and it worked fine.

Then went to another post and tried using the "others" feature with a user name that I knew was active and it did not work either. I really think that maybe the trouble with posting directly to him using the "others" button is a glitch in the forum.View Image

          1. jimshome | Dec 04, 2003 08:30am | #18

I just looked and I see what you mean. Still a little strange about the missing posts though.

I could see a "glitch" maybe knocking a user name or two off of the "others" and maybe the member list as well (probably the same database). But it is a little "odd" about the threads especially since the missing ones are all after the thread you referred to in the classifieds. This above all, to thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night the day, Thou cans't not then be false to any man      Hamlet

          2. UncleDunc | Dec 04, 2003 09:07am | #22

One limitation of the "others" feature is that you can't use a person's nickname, you have to enter his actual login ID. You can find it by ignoring that person using the options menu at the bottom of each message. (And then, presumably, un-ignoring him.)

The reason for this limitation is that nicknames are not unique, while Login ID's are unique.

I emailed Andy E and in his reply he says that WH is in good standing.

Posting direct to WH shouldn't be a problem.

Sounds like the perverbiale glitch thing...

            Hey Richard,

Just wanted to say first hand that I am very happy to know that you and your family are safe and sound in North Carolina.

I, along with many others, have been anxious to hear some good news of your journey. I even went out and spoke to Arlin Hostetler, hoping for good news.

Didn't get any, but did get some great Amish Style Sharp Ceddar from his store.

Anyway, take your time, catch your breath, get settled in and then tell us your saga.

            Best regards,

WH wouldnt get any of the notices because his e-mail has had to change, all that is assuming he even has computer access, right?

I know when I moved down here I forgot to change my e-mail on Prospero and couldnt finger out why I wasnt getting the notices. Dawned on me after about a month that something was wrong when I e-mailed Kevin and didnt get a reply.

I am deeply humbled by the love and support given here.  And that is without even reading "the thread"

I have a lot going on right now but I will fill you all in on the details.  It won't be a poor me sob story.  Because that is not how I feel.  I do however, promise that it will be funny and sad all at the same time.

    Love to all of you...

PS.  Did I ever learn some lessons through this experience!  I will share those with you.  I specifically speak of the experience with you here at BT.  I had my biases and judgements handed to me on a platter made bloody with my own blood.

        3. Snort | Dec 06, 2003 03:37am | #46

Whoooah kiddo. My dad went to Carolina before me, I grew up a Tar Heel fan. But I do pull for Kansas when they aren't playing the Heels<G> I still think Matt got a shabby deal, but Roy really does have legitimate Carolina blue blood, and damn straight I'm glad he's here.

Hey Dean Smith is a Jayhawk, we just know whose pockets to pick.

Still, the only thing that really matters is to beat Dook! LOL

          EliphIno!

          1. CAGIV | Dec 06, 2003 08:03am | #47

Yeah matt did kind of get the shaft hard.

I got nothing really against NC or Roy, there was a big up roar here cause he left, I say BS, the man made a career move and a personal move to boot, he gave KU a lot before he left and I can't blame him one bit for leaving, which actually got me into some "fights" with pissed off students on campus when they were bad mouthing him in classes and stuff.

How can you love a guy one day and want to kill him the next because he made the best decesion for himself after giving you so much, same thing happened when Gooden decided to go pro, yeah like any other college kid is going to give up millions and the chance to fulfill a life long dream so he can finish his/her degree and give the school one more year, risking injury not to mention earning potential.

Still though, sad to see Roy leave, he's a hell of a guy, at least Self seems to be working out quite well here.

and there is no-one I hate more then duke.  well maybe nebraska, but that's for a different sport.

Its the sharing that helps individuals grow. Its the sharing that helps us all grow as a community and world so thank you for sharing and being so out front.

If more people were as honest and as fourthcoming as you we'd be in a better place.

More room to learn, help, and grow and understand one another.
