Kickout flashings were discussed in this thread: 39106.1
Here’s a photo showing why they should be used.
The photo has been reduced in size, but the lower arrows point to damage to the T1-11 which has almost certainly resulted from the lack of a kickout flashing, (there was also damage at the bottom of the lower T1-11 panel) the upper arrow shows where it should have been installed.
(I asked the home buyer to give me a call when it’s being fixed so I can get more shots of behind the siding, but I don’t usually get those calls when I ask for them.)

Tool Donations Sought
I’m matching tool donors to a church mission to Haiti – we’re shipping a bus converted to a medical facility in (now it looks like) April and can fill it with clothes, tools and all sorts of stuff needed in that poorest of all countries. A few hand tools or power tools can provide a livelihood for an otherwise destitute family. Please email me if you have tools to donate.
Thanks to Jeff and David and Jim and Rich and Steven and Mark and Jason and Shep and Jen and Mike and Joe and Bill and Ken for their offers! Several donations have arrived! Thanks and God bless!

Good pic Bob! You said "damage to the T1-11". I gotta wonder what damage is under that too...
BTW - are you a "paying customer" here on the fourm, and therefore able to post pictures directly in your posts, or how does that work?

There was a thread on this in the sandbox:
http://forums.taunton.com/tp-thesandbox/messages?msg=601.1Eat a live toad first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can happen to you for the rest of the day.
Thanks Boss - I was aware of linking to another web site where the pic is heald, but didn't know how to insert the pic directly. I'll have to try it the next time I have a pic to post. Matt
Keep in mind that if the picture is included in the post, everybody downloads it, whether or not they want to. A large picture can be a real annoyance to readers with slow dialup lines.
Thanks for making that point. I have some pretty good photo manipulation software (Photoshop) and always try to make my images < 100k, usually < 50k, however I guess I need to be extra careful if putting a pic directly in a reply... Matt
How was the speed of the pic I posted?
I reduced it 20 341 x 454 pixels qand the reulting file is 20.4 KB

I couldn't load it at all. I tried three times and it hung every time. When I got tired of waiting, I hit escape and the thread came up but with a picture icon instead of the picture.
I have a (nominally) 256kbps DSL line, and a 20K image usually loads in less than a second.
Something else you show in that pic is the way the siding was crammed down close to the shingles, oftentimes unpainted and just dying to suck up that moisture. It also shows the difference between cheap and good. Thanks.
Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.
Quittin' Time
Calvin - good point.
Its over on Bradford Woods Lane if you wanna see it up close, although the pic does a pretty good job of showing what you'd see in person.
