I’m planning to put wall-to-wall carpet in a basement rec room. I’m looking at some commercial type carpet that would be glued down over the existing 9 x 9 tiles that are there now (after patching for a few missing ones).
The carpet installer I hope to work with suggested that I get 15 foot wide material. The job could then be done without seams. I thought this was a good idea, but I’m having trouble locating anyplace that can supply 15′ material. Home Depot tells me that the stuff they carry is not available except in 12′ widths. A carpet warehouse store in my area initially took an order from me for a style and color I liked, but they’ve just called to say that the mill is no longer making that in 15′ widths. They don’t seem optimistic about finding much of a selection in 15′ widths.
Is it true that there’s not really much available in 15′ widths or am I just looking in the wrong places?
Thanks.

I think your looking in the wrong places. Normaly it's a special order item but it's not all that hard to find.
*How about that "Buy direct from the mill" ad that's been running in the back of FHB for the last 20 years? Anybody have any experience with them? Joe H
*I purchased 159 yards worth of Queen - Monte Carlo Frieze for $2,500, which includes Roadways freight, direct from Dalton Georgia this morning. It should arrive at my house in 5 to 7 working days. These outlets carry all the big name brand manufactures so I shopped at a couple of places around town and documented the style name and number I liked from the back of the display. Indecently, the cheapest price I could negotiate locally was $4,800. Due to the advertising stink here, I will refrain from listing the site, but a quick Google search under factory direct carpet will accomplish the task. Be sure to call amongst the listings for the best price, they are more than happy to beat the next guy if at all possible. If you would like the info on the place and gentleman I dealt with email me for the URL. I will post again when the shipment arrives. As for the 15' rolls, I noticed it all depends on the carpet line and style. While shopping, some were available in 12', 15' or even both, with no apparent consistency.

*Since the unofficial over seer of this site has said it's okay . . .I buy from Beckler's in Dalton, at 800-BECKLER,and have had many satisfactory transactions, buyingfor my church, home, rental property, and office.Freight us unbelievably reasonable, and although I'm in Georgia, I'm about 250 miles from Dalton.Greg
*I've seen a number of 15 foot wide lines at Carpet One stores.
