I have a ceiling with a barrel vault, however it is just a section of an arc and not a semi circle. It is a true radius though, and is about 12′ wide. We want to put a 9′ wide window on the gable wall under this ceiling arc. My question is shoule the radius of the window arc be the same as the ceiling or does the window arc just need to be concentric.
When I look at this on a smaller scale using anything circular with a circle in a circle or overlapping circles both seem to work.
Any thoughts?

They could each work, and the appropriateness would depend on what's happening with the rest of the design, and especially the roof line.
To add to what Cloud said, also what do you like.
Actually I want the lines of the window arc and the ceiling to be parralel which means that the window arc radius needs to be smaller and concentric. The same radius of the ceiling set lower will not be parralel. I don't think that's spelled right?????
I got what your saying, you want the point of origin to be the same for both arch's.
Can you get a window like that?

Yeah, well at first I could'nt figure out which way same point of origin or same radius but then I realized that the same radius but lower would not be parrallell.
It is going to be a custom unit from Marvin Windows
For the arcs of the circles to be concentric (or parallel - there! that's spelled right!) you need the same point of origin or center for both circles.
Do you have the true radius of the 12 ft. wide arc? If not, you're welcome to use this Circle Center Calculator.
