I am building a new home in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. I would like to use double hung windows as we are trying to build a victorian style home. I want low maintenance. Any advise on good window manufacturers that won’t blow the budget. Also does anyone know where to get brickmold that is not wood (low maintenance).
Thanks for the help

Loewen(sp.?), windows ae nice, pricey, but the doug fir they build them out of is beautiful. They are made in Canada too and might be one of the few windows that meet your strict code in Ontario. I don't know about their exterior finish options, only used their all wood windows. Marvin makes an extruded aluminum brickmold for their windows, and of course, if they were any further North they would be in Ontario too.
Perhaps you are looking for something cheaper. I'm not familiar enough with your codes up there to offer advise, but I know the Loewen windows had some kind of drain built in to the sash. It was my understanding that this was a code issue there.
You might want to title your post to get the attention of your fellow Canadians.
Way south of you, in Minnesota, Steve
*Seems like I remember Kolbe&Kolbe being located up there somewhere(Wisconsin or Minnesota) and they make one damn' fine window but are pricey. Steve is right about Marvin and their brick mold, and it seems like Anderson offers one, too.I do know one thing for sure: cheapin' out on doors and windows is a big mistake. Bite the bullet, buy what will serve you best, and forget Thermador and Kitchenaid for now. You can always replace appliances, but changing out a housefull of doors and windows 10 years down the road is going to send you back to the bank with your hat in your hand(not to mention the energy costs).Further south of you in Georgia, Bill.
