I’m looking for some advice on window seats inside a dormer. I believe I read something about the designs and proportions in FHB within the past year. Can someone tell me what issue or how to find the issue online.
Any other advice on this topic would also be appreciated.
Thanks much, turtleboy

Hi, about window seats: see FH March 2002 "Drawing Board" p. 38, Susan Susanka discusses dimensions, etc. We were going to have a window seat in the cabin we're building but decided not to bump out the wall (though I suspect we may still be able to inlcude one somehow without the bump-out) Best, Goshawkdog
one thing to decide is will you sit on the window seat with your feet on the floor ? if so.. i t should be 17" to 18" above the floor, depending on the pad
if you intend to curl up in the window seat then it can be higher off the floor.. you can also incorporate storage under the seat..
here's two examples : the west one is in a deeper dormer alcove.. the east one , the kneewall forms the front of the seat..
