I know this has been previously addressed, but I’m still not clear on what waterproofs such windows.
I picture installs as windows, flashing, siding, trim. At the top, I would an angle flashing of a sort with Vycor type running vertically and across the bottom. Then caulk, side, caulk, and trim it out.
But what if water gets by the trim caulk? It runs onto the metal angle flashing, which if not perfectly level, will inevitably shed water slowly towards the upper corner of the window. Where the last line of defense is caulk between the vertical Vycor and the siding. Even if that caulk holds, water still runs down behind the siding where it stays.
Can somebody tell me where my train of thought runs wrong? Or is this just “the best (install) of a bad situation (T-111)”.
Thanks.
