What do you guys in cold weather areas do with your downspouts in the winter. Mine are all connected to piping to 10 or 15 feet from the building (per soil report) and last winter, my first here, they all froze solid to the gutter. Kind of a mess when the thaw came.
I thought of taking them off til spring. Any standard practice that I’m missing?
Thanks, John

I leave them in place year round.
Nope. some people take them down, I just plan on replacing on a regular basis.
You can run a wire through them that melts the ice.
