Hi all, Got a situation with wiring a ceiling fan in a new remodel situation. I want to have this scenario: two switches that control the lights and the fan controlled by pull chain. The way I wired it isa as follows: 2 wire from panel to fan box, the two wire to first switch, three wire from first switch to second switch, and two wire back to fan box. I should have double checked this set-up before the rock was hung, but oh well. Now, how can i make this work. Any ideas Thanks joel

So you want to control the light on the fan from two switches?
That's called a three-way switch set up.
You can do it:
You've got power at the fan box. Splice the white (neutral) of the supply to the light neutral.
The supply black (power) goes to the white wire of the cable to the first switch. Use black or red tape to re-identify this white wire at both ends. This white (reidentified as black) goes to the common terminal (black screw) on the first three-way switch.
Between the switches, the red and white (taped black at both ends) are the travellers, and go onto the brass screws on both switches.
At the second switch box, connect the black of the three conductor cable to the common terminal (of the second switch). This is switched power to the light.
At the first switch box, splice the black in the three-conductor cable to the black in the cable between the light and switch.
At the fixture box, splice the black from the first switch to the black (or blue or whatever) of the light.
So, power goes from the light fixture box to the first switch. It runs on the travellers to the second switch, and from the common terminal there on the black wire back to the first switchbox and then to the light fixture. This is an "end of the run" three-way set up.
Good luck,
Cliff
