Quick question – I had an approx 35′ x 6″ x 15″ SPGLULAM installed to allow removal of load baring wall. Long story short – am working on wiring can lights for the newly opened space. Above glulam is attic, ranch style house. Is it acceptable to run the wiring over the beam rather than drill through it?
The wiring would be above the blown cell insulation, so it would be visible if someone was walking over it. I know I technically can drill through, but it make me a little nervous and I’d rather not bother.
TIA

If you don't need to drill through, than don't.
If you are that concerned with the wire being exposed over the top of the beam, nail a piece of 2x6 over the top to keep foot traffic off.

Thanks Terry. I feel pretty stupid that I didn't think of that. That will be sooo much easier.
No problem - feeling stupid is one of my specialties.
