I want to supply electricity to the outer end of a lake dock so I can charge trolling batteries without bringing them on land. I have an outbuilding about 20 feet from the edge of the lake which will be the origin of the circuit. I want to be able to remove dock in winter.
Can I hook on to an existing GFCI receptacle or should I run a separate circuit from breaker box using a GFCI breaker? How deep should the wire be buried until I get to the lake edge? Should I use UF type wire or conduit? What kind of connection to use at the lake’s edge to allow dock removal? What to use as connector at outer end of dock to connect to battery charger? Would I dare to just use an extension cord from the inner end to outer end of dock?
Any suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Thank you. Doc

I would use conduit from the outbuilding burried 2ft (if you can get it that deep) to a post near the dock where it would come up into a junction box. From there you can run conduit that will be removed with the dock.
extension cord
stranger things have happened
there are water tight electrical plugs, if you can't find them on line visit your local marina, check them out, and ask where they got them ..
