I was working under an old porch and I saw a type of fungus that resembled a dogs fur growing and looked like it was spreading over the bottom of the fir flooring and joists .What is this and would Bleach kill it ???

I am not particularly knowledgable about wood fungus. What information I have run accross tends to dwell on two types of wood fungus damage to homes: brown rot and white rot. Neither of these seems to be what you have. There is also a third type of rot which is considered to be less important and which is called "soft rot". Soft rot is described as being related to molds and the damage is typically shallow. Perhaps this is more like the organism that you are experiencing. Like brown or white rots, it requires moisture - either constant or alternate wet or dry.
