Yesterday I started reading a thread discussing the laying wood floors perp. or parallel to the floor joists. Now I can’t seem to locate that thread anywhere, even using the search mode. Any help would be appreciated.
FYI. 1 X 6 SYP T&G prefinished (by me)with spar varnish and installed face nailed with cut nails. Any feedback/ideas appreciated.
Have a great Holiday!

Is there a sub-floor? Obviously if the new wood is being layed directly on the floor joists, it could be difficult to lay it parallel to the joists, so my question is probably moot, but had to ask. You also need to consider the finished appearance...would the floor look better in one direction that the other?
Do it right, or do it twice.
Thanks. For some reason I logged on a few minutes ago and there it was. I searched for an hour and couldn't come up with it. Subfloor is 3/4" ply. At $1.00 sqft it seems like pretty well spent money. This is for a home we'll probably only stay in for another few years or else I probably would be willing to go with oak. The SYP will be a welcomed improvement over the crappy carpet left by previous owners.

I found it by clicking on the Construction Techniques folder in the left hand frame. It was the 12th thread in that folder.
Duh? Thanks. It frustrated me for about an hour. Thanks for the help.
