Hi All,
I doing a rehab on a condo that has floors (tile over concrete) which are slightly out of true. I want sometype of hardwood (probably bamboo) and am thinking of using some product like jewelstone over the ceramic tile (to get a true surface – which may be slightly out of level). I would prefer not to have to take up the tile. I just want a good and true base to put down a floating floor.
My question is: Is this a good idea?
Thanks.

As long as the tiles are well adhered (none loose) it will work ok. The wood will have to be either floating or glued, you can't nail throguh the leveling compound. Try to use as little leveller as possible.

Thanks, yes the tile appears to be well adheard. Do you have any recommendations on what brand or type of leveling compound. I have read some articles on JewelStone and some mentioned using Muratic acid to prepare the floor. I am going to start with the smallest room and learn as I go.
I would go to a tile store and buy from the pros. Note that even if it says "self leveling" it really isn't."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson
