Part of the remodel includes installing glued-down oak flooring in most areas of the house, which is a concrete slab. The kitchen island will have a stone front. What is the preferred sequence: stone first then the flooring, or reverse? And why?
Do it right, or do it twice.

If you're talking lots of stones making the wall, stone first. Rocks, mortar and grout are all very abrasive. They (or people's feet tracking them around) would be sure to scar the floor.
If you want to get tricky, you can try to hold the bottom of the stone off the subfloor by the thickness of the flooring, so that you can slip the flooring under rather than having to scribe it to the stone.
If you're talking slab stone, it's probably a push. Slab installation is short, and you can probably protect the floor while it is being done.
