Hey All,
Question regarding oak flooring.
I have noticed over the last few weeks that my oak floor boards seem to feel loose. Like when I walk on a few select spots (several) the boards feel spongy. Any likely causes for this?
Some details you may need to know:
1) floors were completely refinished this past August
2) I have a basement directly under the floor in question (I live in a ranch, single story)
3) notice most of the boards that feel loose are in high traffic area’s
4) floor under the 1st floor (essentially the basement ceiling) is insulated with batt insulation
Any clues from oak experts would be greatly appreciated. Am I in trouble here? Is it simply humidity? Traffic? etc.

Maybe installed wi th staples that have rusted off or pulled loose, or never installed with enough fasteners.

If the subfloor is solid, drive a few screws from underneath to pull it down tight.
