Well, obviously copper would be an option (if the shapes aren't too wild), though you'd have to ask CU what it would cost. Galv might be a hair cheaper, but would rust out in 5 years or so.
You could use swimming pool liner material, I suppose -- easy to work with, pretty heavy duty (though the gardener would have to use some care). Would require a removable cap or curb to hold the top edge of the liner in place.
I built my raised bed gardens by stacking 6x6 spruce timbers, then lined it with the drainage material left over from a foundation job.
It is that plastic dimple-,at with fabric cover that comes in rolls 5' wide, so my 30" tall bed was a nice half sliced
Three years now and seems to do the job well, but I'll need ten yers to say for sure.
Recycled offset press aluminum sheets? We used to get them for cheap.
How about e.g. EDPM, PVC, or hypalon roofing? May get leftovers for cheap from a roofer.
Make a deep long shower pan. Really!
Two ways to do it - the easiest would be to use the vinal sheet that you weld together. Since this isn't UV friendly, you would have to put a good lip around the edge to shade it. You would also need some drains in the bottom.
Another ways is to put down something like WEDI or Ditra, then tile around the edge with something cheap to keep off the UV.
Azek comes in 4X8 sheets 1/2"
Azek comes in 4X8 sheets 1/2" thickness. Don't know if the relative ridgidness of the Azek would be better for your application than the relative floppiness of EPDM material.
Great Ideas!, I didn't even think of Vinyl liner or EPDM, will check into pricing, But they would fit the angles & shape she requested without to much headache.
Thanks
Pond liner?
Here they sell rubber/pvc/?? pond liner at Lowes... You know - like what would be used in a water garden, fountain, or fish pond. It comes in rolls and you pay by the foot. I'm thinking it only comes in 6' widths, but maybe there is a way to "weld" it together with glue, etc. Is the liner to have a drain in it? Seams like it would need it.
My first thought was pond liner mnaterial (EPDM?).
How about a cementaceous product as a liner? There are many available that cure VERY quickly and are waterproof once set. Tack some wire mesh to the inside of the box and cover it with Cement-All or some similar product.
Don't forget to leave drain holes in the bottom. The plants will die if their roots are in soil that does not drain.

If she doesn't want PTL then she might probably won't like my first suggestion: TREX. Miter lock the pieces logitudinally and support them with decorative cedar supports q 4 feet or use Port Orford Cedar which is longlasting and beautiful and available from BearCreekLumber. I'm not an employee but I have purchased lots of wood from them.
