hey everyone,
were in the midst of a reno and are going to be doing some wood siding in a couple weeks, my client wants 1″ thick, high density foam insualtion board installed over the plywood sheeting, then strapping and siding over the foam board.
seems straight forward enough, but my question is this. will there be too much compression of the foam board after nailing the strapping on and then the siding to make a noticable “wavey” appearance when looking down the wall. we’ve done viynl siding over it but the nailing proceedure isn’t really comparable, and ive heard of this happening on a couple fiber/cement siding jobs when intalled over the same stuff.
not something im losing sleep over but if anyone has some feedback on this it would be appreciated, thanks.

not a problem with high density such as extruded Dow Blue foam

I would use wider than normal stapping(more surface area on the foam)
and don't hand drive the nails, use a nail gun
