Here’s my situation. New construction, we’re doing I-joists at 16″ centers, 3/4″ subfloor (plywood or Huber’s Advantech), and under the subfloor, hydronic radiant heat. Mounted atop this, we want a maple floor in the kitchen, strips, 2-1/4″, and none of the conventional wood flooring people will advise their product for this application. I looked into Award Floors’ engineered floating “Longstrip” product, but they will only stand behind the product when one of the oak items is selected. Of course we could use something like Pergo, but we want to use wood. Who amongst you has seen at least three heating seasons of trouble-free service with a wood maple flooring (engineered floating or otherwise)over hydronic under-floor heat? Product recommendations, please!

I lost all of my links (and my memory) last month, but I think Mongo can help here.
