Hello,
I’m combining some wood clapboard siding with vinyl clapboard siding (wood will be below the area that will eventually have a shed roof covering the back porch; vinyl will be above the roof).
I have about 4000 bd ft of white oak logs that I’m cutting into beveled clapboard siding (and some 1×6 decking). I can cut up to about 8″ wide clapboard.
What is the standard exposure for the vinly siding?
I don’t have the vinly siding yet but wanted to get started on cutting the oak. I don’t have the vinly siding yet but wanted to get started on cutting the oak.
Thanks,

vinyl comes with a couple different exposures, the most common are 4", 5" and 8"
the 4 and 5 usually have 2 courses in 1 panel
depending on what you want, make your claps about 1 1/2" wider that your exposure
