Sometime this past Spring I went looking for my nice DeWalt corded drill. I couldn’t find it anywhere and I seeded it to pre-drill holes for spikes in some pressure-treated 4x4s. Anyway, I bought a throwawat B&D that barely did the job.
Yesterday, I go out and buy the DeWalt DW272 drywall gun to start the basement rocking (BTW, I just tried it today and I am completely satisfied with it. I didn’t make a single mistake {yet} using it). I waltz down into the basement looking for a box to put some small trash into and what do I find?
My DeWalt corded drill. SOB! The box was from my PC router, and I have no idea how that dang drill got in it. Amazing. So, I found my favorite corded drill (I’m happy), and I’m happy as a clam with my new drywall screw gun.
Boy does the DW272 making screwing drywall screws easy as heck.

Wife: "You know, dear, if you put it back where you got it then you wouldn't have to look for it next time."
Me: "But where I got it in the first place wasn't where it belonged to begin with. As such, it was already out of place."
Wife: "If you put it back where it belongs in the first place, it would never have had gotten to a wrong place to begin with."
Me: "There is yet no designated 'place' for any of my tools. All of the finished places in the house are your places, not mine."
Wife: <stern look>
Wife: "I think we need to designate a place for all of your tools, then."
Me: "I agree. Where?"
Wife: "How about in the basement?"
Me: "Sure, I like that idea. Of course, its been under construction for five years, with continued interruptions to finish or repair spaces on the first two floors, landscaping projects, etc."
Wife: <another stern look>
Wife: "I still think we need to designate a place for all of your tools, then."
Me: "I agree. Where?"
Wow Nuke - that's a pretty interesting conversation for 2 who are so darn smart (and I say that SINCERELY!)
I'm going to assume the exchange wasn't really what you typed - verbatim...but that you've paraphrased somewhat.
She keeps saying and you acknowledge, that you got a 'designated tool storage space' issue to deal with.
You suggested no potential solutions; she suggested the basement - which may be logical since there's lots of construction still occurring there and length of that project being ongoing due to other projects, is IRRELEVANT to the "tool storage location" issue. So ya say yes AND no to her suggestion and offer none of your own.
And yet, if your statement below is accurate...
Me: "But where I got it in the first place wasn't where it belonged to begin with. As such, it was already out of place."
It implies (see underlined italicized portion!) that you HAD some designated location for things!
So what's the bottom line?
You both know your tools need a designated place. You both wish to have a designated tool storage space. You have much going on in your house due to various projects. Can't you 2 educated and smart adults do an assessment of your tool storage location options (make a list if ya got to!) and then jointly determine the best compromise location. Doesn't sound like ANY location either of you suggests or choses is going to be ideal so just acknowledge and accept that and find the compromise location that you both can support for the interim.
That's my 2 cents. File in spiral cabinet if you so choose LOL!

your lucky, mine doesn't remember ever seeing anything
I wont buy anything but dewalt for drills - they are the best.
I bought one last week. I wanted a 3/8 milwaukee hole shot, but nobody sells them anymore.. 2+3=7
I have one DeWalt drill. It seems to be holding up just fine, but with those straight cut gears, it always sounds like it's grinding rocks in there.

I, too, believe the Dewalt dw screwguns are the best - tried Milwaukee, Makita but nothing compares to the smoothness and balance of Dewalt. When Black and Decker had their professional line, their dw gun was the best...it's now Dewalt.
