I’ve been noticing wooly bears in my area have very wide brown/red stripes in the middle and just a little black at ends. This is supposed to indicate a mild winter. But the local weather forcasters are calling for a snowier than usual winter with normal temps.
What are your wooly bears predicting? And have you noticed any correlation between the rings and winter weather in past winters?

I was taught that the size of that brown band indicates the length of the winter.
Never did test the theory.
But this year they are about average here, size wise, but there sure were a lot of them last month
