find a union hall a see if you can get any info, N.Y.C. is a very heavy union oriented.they find out your not paying dues, and they'll rip you off , vehicle damage is not out of the ordinary. welcome to the belly of the beast , keep your wits about you, and be a minimalist as far as bringing your tool inventory with you. metal studs , sheetrock, think commercial. theres some diffrent building practices that go on here. if you dont go union, brush up on your spanish, there always alot work going on there. like anyplace else it takes time to wade threw the crap and find yourself a home. i stuck to residental there just as much money and like the personal touch with residental, in manhattan central park east and west is a good place to cruise on saturdays . pull some numbers off the trucks.ask for personal if you call if you find a job ask for the foreman. he'll have an attitude but look him in the eye and tell him your looking for work. all real basic stuff, in brooklyn, there a lot for renovation going on by the old navy shipyard, try brooklyn heights, around prospect park also. anyhow good luck..... cheers moved to long island....bear
