I’m used to using 8 inch block, where you always overlap the next row of blocks in the middle of the blocks below(8 inches from the edge).
But, I will be putting in a foundation with 12 inch thick block and can see that it would be a lot easier, when turning corners, to have a 4 inch offset of the vertical bonds. I can’t remember ever seeing it done that way.
The block I have has only 2 holes, so half the ends will not have center support under them this way.
Is this OK?

Use 12" corner blocks...readily available at any block plant around here. I have seen this question before and I can't believe people can't find corner blocks where they buy the regular block.
Thanks, I never thought to ask if they had such a thing.
BoJangles is right. piece of cake.
