I am about to make the biggest investment of my life. I have contracted a custom builder to build my new home in northern Virginia. I would like to know if any of the professional builders on this forum would use Thermo Ply on their own (the house you will live in) new home? and How would you maximize the performance of your sheathing choice if you were covering it with vinyl siding?

Sorry george. It doesn't really matter what you are using for sheathing if you are going to cover it with vinyl. Do yourself and your family a favor and put real siding on the house. That is unless you are only planning to own it for a couple of years and then unload it.
...oh man, the wording in this subject heading is going to cause all sorts of unruly posts!
I was thinking the same thing. I put TP on a few houses back in high school but never on my own.Kevin Halliburton And with that, the great emporer Oz gently floated away on a curtain of hot air, laughing at the unfortunate ignorance of little people beneath him. But under his breath he cursed that stupid little dog...
I just assumed TP was a code word for vinyl. It looks the same to me, anyway.
Whatever you end up doing, MAKE SURE that the builder is insured and will offer you a warranty. Try to get him to give you more that a year on the siding/exterior and the roof. It is a good idea to get the builder to personally warrant the work as well as his Co. This way it will be harder for him to go out of business and leave you holding the bag.
