In December we’ll be replacing a 12′ sliding door unit with a 6′ door and a window on either side……in two locations. I’m probably more concerned with cold, then just dust control. Is the 3rd Hand poles adequate to hold up a tarp across the opening? Amazon has a contractor pack of four poles. Do you think four poles are enough?
Thanx for your input!

Fast cap is my choice. I have them and when compared to zip wall, there was no comparison in quality and ruggedness.

Can't right now answer your question , but will give you a heads up that if you want third hands for nothing more than dust control, check out Harbor Freight.
I actually have a set of third hands and I love them.
But I happened to be in a HF location yesterday and found some imitations for 9.99 per. good enough for holding up visquine.

You should also check out the poles made by Task (they are very similar to the 3rd hand) but are less expensive and very robust. Everything is metal on them except the top and bottom rubber pads.
The Zip Wall stuff is very lightweight and fragile.
Third hands are an indespensible tool for the remodeler.
Opening a house pushes any temporary blockade to the max. Whenever any other door or window is opened in another part of the house you risk losing a good seal (at best) or possibly collapse.
Can you seal the room itself off from the rest of the house and then contain your area of destruction?
A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

I have a set of3rd-hand knock offs -- don't remember the brand -- that are well constructed, all metal. They work great for temporary walls. I cut plastic as wide as the room opening, take a 1X4 and roll the plastic around it once or twice and staple. Put that up against the ceiling and hold it in place with the poles. Then I do likewise at the bottom. Using 1X4s helps keep the plastic tight against the floor and ceiling.
I also like the zippers they sell to make "doors" in the plastic wall. They are easier to install if the plastic is clean and tight. They are a bit pricey, but they make a huge difference in dust control since they allow you to open the barrier quickly and easily to get in and out, and then close it up again tight right away without having to pull down one end of the plastic and then reseal.

Fastcap is real class operation, I bought that set on sale from Amazon. Broke one by seriously abusing it, called for a replacement part, explaining my error. They sent part and one of the little hands for my trouble all free.

3rd hand is more than adequate for your situation....and when you're done, you'll find a thousand other uses for them.
As for "how many"?.....kinda depends on the size of the area you're closing off. should be more than enough for most applications.
