Because the new, opened kitchen becomes part of a larger great room attached to the entry, we included a full-height, built-in drop zone to organize hats, coats, and shoes for the busy family. This keeps all of the daily “stuff” close and accessible, but prevents it from accumulating on the kitchen counters.
